    About the role#

    This co-op position supports technology development in the telecommunications field. You will use engineering principles to design, build, and evaluate prototype products. Your work will focus on fiber optic connectors and enclosures. You will work with technologies such as plastic injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, and rapid prototyping while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

    What you'll do#

    • Lead small projects and manage priorities to meet objectives within the assignment timeframe.
    • Create 2D and 3D CAD designs for new components and assemblies.
    • Coordinate, plan, and lead experiments to support assigned projects.
    • Analyze experiment results using engineering principles and statistical tools.
    • Prepare oral and written reports to summarize test results and conclusions for technical audiences in Development, Engineering, and Operations.
    • Build prototype products and test systems using hands-on laboratory methods.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a BS or MS program for Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
    • Completion of first and second year engineering studies.
    • Proficiency with MS Office programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting information.
    • Creativity in solving problems, designing experiments, and analyzing results.
    • Ability to work with hands to build prototypes and test systems.
    • Preferred experience includes Creo or Unigraphics NX CAD software, PLM software like Windchill or eNovia, and laboratory experience with lathes, mills, and hand tools.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Austin, Texas.
    • Term: Summer 2026.
    • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Note: This position does not offer immigration sponsorship.
