About the role#
This internship program is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to apply your education to real-world practice. The goal of this program is to prepare you for a Pharmacist role by developing your clinical knowledge, business acumen, and leadership skills. You are required to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in California within 120 days of finishing your intern hours.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures and pharmacy workflow at all workstations to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide caring service to patients, including solving or escalating problems and showing empathy.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Offer immunizations and other health services where allowed by law and supported by training.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws regarding pharmacy practice and patient privacy.
What you'll need#
- Foreign graduate degree from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
