About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world pharmacy operations. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. This role provides hands-on experience under the direction of a preceptor while you support the pharmacy team in daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Complete a structured training roadmap including key learning experiences and store activities.
- Assist the team with prescription fulfillment at workstations such as production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Follow standard operating procedures to ensure safety and accuracy.
- Provide patient care by offering immunizations, point-of-care testing, and counseling under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Perform inventory tasks like cycle counts, returns, and medication stocking.
- Act as a Technician Immunizer by preparing and administering vaccines, educating patients, and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure or be in the process of obtaining one.
- At least 1 year of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Strong focus and the ability to pivot between tasks quickly.
- Mathematical skills for calculating dispensing counts and day’s supply.
