Construction Intern

About the role#

This internship provides hands-on experience and professional development within the homebuilding process. You will be assigned to a primary department or functional area to gain exposure to daily operations, research, and project work. The program includes departmental rotations, training, and opportunities to explore long-term career paths at D.R. Horton.

What you'll do#

• Support daily operations at your assigned office, field location, or jobsite.
• Assist with administrative tasks, reporting, and coordination efforts.
• Learn company policies, safety requirements, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with team members across different departments to understand how the business functions.
• Participate in training programs and meetings to build your professional knowledge.
• Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner.
• Work overtime and travel, including occasional overnight trips, as business needs require.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university as an incoming junior or senior, or recent graduation.
• Coursework or a degree related to your internship area, such as Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Communications, or Operations Management.
• Interest in learning about homebuilding, land development, or corporate operations.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and a willingness to learn new software.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to adapt to different work environments.
• Candidates pursuing an advanced degree may also be considered.
