About the role#
This Student TA position supports the 3D Junior Game Project (PRJ-3000-3050). You will work closely with instructors and student teams to guide them through the art creation pipeline, from early mood boards to final 3D game assets. This role requires a blend of artistic expertise, technical knowledge, and mentorship, as you help students navigate team dynamics and production milestones throughout the Fall and Spring terms.
What you'll do#
- Assist student teams with visual mood boards, rough concepts, and the art creation pipeline.
- Help teams establish a consistent game mood and feel by supporting the production of placeholders and final 3D assets.
- Provide regular verbal and written feedback to game teams regarding their progress and art quality.
- Evaluate team issues and provide clear, actionable advice on production planning and scope feasibility.
- Maintain communication with instructors and other TAs to report project updates and student needs.
- Offer proactive support to teams outside of scheduled lab hours.
What you'll need#
- A solid foundation in environment concept art, visual development sketches, lighting, and 3D art production.
- Experience creating a 3D game in Unity or Unreal and a strong portfolio of 3D art contributions.
- Proficiency with painting software.
- High level of motivation and the ability to organize your own work schedule.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex artistic and technical concepts to students.
- A positive attitude toward learning and helping others succeed.
- Current enrollment as a student at DigiPen Institute of Technology.
Location & details#
- Location: Redmond, Washington.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Fall 2026 through Spring 2027.
- Hours: Up to 8 hours per week, scheduled outside of Junior Lab hours.
- Eligibility: Applicants must be current DigiPen students residing in Washington state.
