About the role#
Dominion Energy is seeking an engineering student for a summer internship within the Transmission Engineering team. This position provides hands-on exposure to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the electric transmission system. You will work alongside engineers and technicians on projects that support the reliability of the electrical grid.
What you'll do#
- Support high-voltage transmission line projects ranging from 33kV to 230kV.
- Develop bills of material and handle material requisitions.
- Assist with PLS-CADD design and AutoCAD drawings.
- Review encroachment and T&D joint use requests.
- Evaluate engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Use engineering software such as PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, and MFAD, along with GIS tools and Microsoft Office.
- Visit transmission lines, substations, and construction sites to observe field operations.
- Collaborate with internal engineering and operations teams.
- Support storm restoration efforts.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET accredited Bachelor’s degree program.
- Major in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Expected graduation date in 2028 or 2029.
- Experience or prior coursework in AutoCAD.
