About the role#
This role supports the Chemistry and Biochemistry department by assisting the Lab Administrator. You will gain experience handling chemicals and laboratory glassware while learning how to manage daily lab operations. This position offers flexibility to work around your class schedule.
What you'll do#
- Prepare chemical solutions for laboratory use.
- Set up labs and organize equipment on a weekly basis.
- Retrieve solvents for teaching and research labs.
- Deliver packages to research labs located on the third floor.
- Create inventory lists during the summer term.
What you'll need#
- You must be work-study approved.
- Preference is given to Chemistry or Biochemistry majors, though Biology and Pharmaceutical Sciences students are encouraged to apply.
- You cannot be currently enrolled in Chem 121L or Chem 122L.
Location & details#
- Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Modality: On-site.
- Terms: Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027.
- Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week during the fall and spring. Summer hours vary based on your credit load.
