About the role#
The Duquesne University College of Osteopathic Medicine Information Technology department is hiring a student employee to provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students. This is a part-time position offering up to 15 hours per week, with a schedule that accommodates your classes. You will work under the guidance of full-time IT staff to troubleshoot hardware and software, maintain equipment, and assist with various technology projects. Weekend and off-hours availability is expected.
What you'll do#
- Provide first-level technical support through phone, email, in-person, and remote access.
- Assist with the setup, installation, configuration, and maintenance of laptops, desktop computers, printers, and peripherals.
- Perform basic hardware diagnostics and repairs under supervision.
- Document all support interactions and resolutions in the ticketing system.
- Help manage IT equipment inventory and maintain supplies.
- Assist with basic network troubleshooting and the physical organization of IT infrastructure areas.
- Support IT projects such as equipment upgrades and software deployments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student in good standing at Duquesne University.
- A basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and operating systems, specifically Windows or macOS.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Preference is given to students enrolled in computer science or related programs.
