About the role#
The Facility Engineer Co-Op role is based in Burnet, Texas, for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, six-month position that provides hands-on experience with utility systems, reliability engineering, and capital projects. You will work alongside Facilities Engineers, Maintenance Technicians, and EHS teams to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations.
What you'll do#
- Support the operation, maintenance, and improvement of facility utility systems including HVAC, compressed air, chilled water, process exhaust, and building systems.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
- Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance to improve equipment reliability.
- Support capital and facility improvement projects by developing documentation, coordinating with contractors, and assisting with commissioning.
- Collect, analyze, and report utility and equipment performance data using tools like Excel and Power BI.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Create and update engineering drawings, procedures, and standard work instructions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or Facilities Engineering.
- Strong interest in facilities engineering, utility systems, or industrial operations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work effectively in a team while managing multiple assignments independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated mindset with a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
- Familiarity with university requirements for co-op participation.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Power BI, or CMMS systems is a plus.
