About the role#
First Solar is hiring a Development Engineer Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in California. The internship lasts between 3 and 5 months, with some flexibility to accommodate class schedules. You will work alongside engineers and technicians at the California Technology Center to support solar panel research.
What you'll do#
- Conduct hands-on lab work for solar panel research experiments.
- Advance experiments involving inkjet printing and spray coating of uniform thin film materials.
- Collect and analyze experimental data.
- Present your project summary and accomplishments to the leadership team at the end of the term.
- Use MS Excel to manage data and documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment (Year 2 or higher of undergraduate study, or any graduate level) in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
- Completion of chemistry lecture courses and at least one chemistry lab course.
- Experience in an undergraduate research lab is helpful.
- Ability to work on-site and comply with all safety standards, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Capacity to lift, push, or pull up to 37 pounds and perform physical tasks like standing, walking, or reaching throughout a shift.
