About the role#
The Student Nurse Care Partner (Float Pool) role provides nursing students with clinical experience in a hospital setting. Working under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, you will provide direct patient care across multiple inpatient units. This position is designed to complement your nursing coursework with hands-on bedside experience while supporting the broader nursing team.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct patient care, including assistance with mobility, transfers, and activities of daily living.
- Perform clinical tasks such as bladder scanning, glucose monitoring in non-critical care areas, and specimen collection.
- Monitor patient condition and communicate changes promptly to the nursing staff.
- Assist with patient safety initiatives, patient rounding, and maintaining a clean environment.
- Support the healthcare team by transporting patients, equipment, and blood products as needed.
- Participate in patient satisfaction efforts and unit council activities.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in an accredited licensed nursing program.
- CPR certification or the ability to obtain it per organizational policy.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and an eagerness to apply nursing knowledge in a clinical setting.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, turning, and positioning patients using safe handling equipment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
