About the role#
HII Technical Solutions is hiring Engineering Interns to join our Warfare Systems group. You will support the design and analysis of complex embedded systems used in Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) projects. This role involves working through all stages of research, development, and product creation. You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.
What you'll do#
- Research, design, develop, and test complex electrical products and systems.
- Create electrical and electronic schematics.
- Design complex PCBAs and integrated electrical systems, including cabling and wire harnesses.
- Develop mixed signal systems using components like MCUs, FPGAs, DSPs, and sensors.
- Conduct prototype development activities to ensure project milestones are met.
- Perform technical analyses on issues like reliability, capacity, and failure.
- Document designs for internal use and subject matter experts.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines on board-level design details.
- Perform hands-on system integration and testing, including drafting test plans and rework instructions.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Electrical, Software, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Credit completion requirements: Intern 2 (20-40%), Intern 3 (40-60%), or Intern 4 (>60%).
- Ability to work on multi-disciplinary teams and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
- Experience with requirements definition, schematic capture, PCB layout, and design verification testing.
- Knowledge of Multi-Gbps serial communications, power analysis, and EMI/EMC testing.
- Familiarity with radar, EW, software defined radio, or electro-optical system design is preferred.
