About the role#
HII is seeking a Corporate Business Management Intern to join the Treasury department in Newport News, Virginia. This is a 10-week, full-time summer internship for 2027. You will rotate through four key areas: Banking and Capital Markets, Cash Management, Insurance, and Pension, Investments and Trusts. This role requires on-site attendance.
What you'll do#
- Support shareholder distributions through daily, weekly, and monthly performance analyses.
- Participate in meetings with third-party credit counterparties and rating agencies.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses on historical share repurchase performance and debt maturity profiles.
- Manage daily cash activities, including liquidity analysis, cash accounting, and forecasting.
- Assist with the enterprise risk management framework, including risk inventory updates and management interviews.
- Develop exposure data to support the renewal process for various insurance programs.
- Prepare and improve cash forecasting for pension plan private equity and credit investments.
- Support investment manager due diligence and portfolio rebalancing discussions.
- Lead the completion of annual CIEBA survey materials.
- Attend monthly Investment Committee and quarterly Administrative Committee meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year college, university, or 2+2 program, or a relevant Master's degree program.
- Status as a rising Junior or above.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Academic focus in Finance, Risk Management, Accounting, Economics, or Insurance.
- Ability to work a 40-hour work week for at least 10 weeks.
- Coursework in Corporate Finance or Economics.
- Experience with quantitative modeling and strong spreadsheet skills.
