About the role#
Hoffman Construction Company is seeking an Intern Project Engineer for the 2026-2027 school year. This role is based on-site and requires approximately 20 hours of work per week. You will coordinate with your project team to establish a schedule that accommodates your academic commitments while meeting the weekly hour requirement.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate site logistics, subcontractors, vendors, and field inspections.
- Interpret blueprint construction drawings and technical manuals.
- Write and publish meeting minutes, schedule graphs, and activity checklists.
- Perform field surveying and lay out control lines and benchmarks.
- Receive and distribute requests for information and change documents.
- Assist with document control, quality control, and schedule management from preconstruction through project closeout.
- Act as a technical advisor at the onsite field construction office.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or an equivalent degree.
- Experience organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method.
- Familiarity with the CSI specification system for construction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and Bluebeam.
- Experience with critical path method scheduling software and AutoCAD.
- Ability to lift and carry documents and survey equipment up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site for work progress reviews.
