About the role#
The Student Nurse Extern role is an unregulated healthcare position at Humber River Health. You will provide direct personal support to patients on Floor 12. You will work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses while following department policies.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic care for up to 10 patients, including assistance with bathing, toileting, and feeding.
- Document activities of daily living, such as intake and output.
- Communicate relevant patient information to the healthcare team.
- Report any clinical concerns to your direct supervisor immediately.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in years 2-4 of a nursing program.
- A valid CPR certification.
- An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
- Ability to use technology effectively.
- Capacity to provide basic assistive care under supervision.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Toronto, Ontario.
- The role is part-time and temporary, lasting until March 31, 2027.
- You will work rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, in 8 or 12-hour increments.
