    About the role#

    The Financial Coaching and Economic Mobility Intern supports the IRC team in Charlottesville by providing educational tools, financial guidance, and resources to clients. This role focuses on increasing the financial capability of clients by helping them reach their individual goals. You will report directly to the Financial Coach.

    What you'll do#

    • Facilitate credit education and financial literacy training for clients.
    • Assist in the development of workshop curricula on financial literacy topics.
    • Create personal finance tools and resources, such as translatable user guides.
    • Help clients navigate the application process for the Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO) loans and assist with opening bank accounts.
    • Research local organizations to build community partnerships for client referrals and advocacy.
    • Attend staff and team meetings while providing general administrative support.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, or recent graduation in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or Psychology.
    • Strong interest in working with clients from diverse global backgrounds.
    • Familiarity with coaching models and related activities.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and internet research.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Charlottesville, VA.
    • Term: Fall 2026.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Commitment: At least 10 hours per week for a minimum of three months.
    • Status: This is an unpaid internship. A valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle are preferred.
