About the role#
The Youth Futures Program supports refugee and asylee youth at Clarkston High School. This internship focuses on academic support and social-emotional learning through an after-school program. You will work directly with students to help them succeed in their school environment and prepare for their future goals.
What you'll do#
- Support IRC staff with the delivery of daily programs.
- Help with logistics for workshops, field trips, and other activities.
- Assist students with homework and school projects.
- Provide guidance on college applications, resume writing, and job searches.
- Plan and prepare for Youth Futures events.
- Maintain program documentation and enter data into databases.
- Build mentoring relationships with students in a multi-cultural setting.
What you'll need#
- Interest in international and refugee issues.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with youth or young adults.
- Current enrollment or background in Psychology, Sociology, Human Resources, or Political Science is relevant to this work.
- Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a background check.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and requires in-person attendance at Clarkston High School.
- The internship term is Fall 2026, starting the week of September 8th, 2026.
- You must commit to 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months.
- This position is unpaid and does not offer visa sponsorship.
