    About the role#

    The Student Auxiliary Safety Patrol (SASP) works with the Office of Public Safety to keep the campus community safe. Members patrol residence halls, parking lots, and academic buildings. You will work in pairs at all times and maintain radio contact with Public Safety officers. This role is community-oriented and focuses on education, though you may issue conduct referrals or parking tickets when necessary. You will also receive training and certification in CPR and First Aid.

    What you'll do#

    • Patrol campus grounds during evening and weekend hours.
    • Operate the campus escort program to walk students to their destinations.
    • Assist with crowd and traffic control for athletic events, concerts, and campus ceremonies.
    • Secure academic buildings and monitor residential areas.
    • Identify and assist during medical emergencies.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment as a full or part-time student at Ithaca College.
    • A cumulative grade point average of 2.6 or higher.
    • Good standing with Student Financial Services and the Office of Student Conduct.
    • Ability to walk and stand for long periods in all weather conditions.
    • Completion of a mandatory basic training course, which includes classroom instruction and observational patrols.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Ithaca, New York.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Schedule: Flexible hours chosen by the student. Regular patrols occur between 10:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. on weekdays, and 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. on weekends.
    • Compensation: $16.30 per hour.
