About the role#
The Friends of Ithaca Farmers Market seeks a student assistant to support nonprofit operations, community outreach, and event planning. You will work directly with the organization to manage administrative tasks and help connect the market with the local community. This role is open to students with Federal Work Study awards.
What you'll do#
- Monitor the organization email inbox and handle correspondence.
- Create and post content to social media channels.
- Conduct research projects, including collecting customer surveys and performing parking lot counts.
- Assist with community outreach by tabling at markets and events.
- Contribute ideas for fundraising and programs while helping with event setup.
- Update website content and maintain digital files.
- Take notes during meetings and meet weekly with supervisors to review progress.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Ithaca College.
- Experience with graphic design and confidence using social media.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organized.
- Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with the public.
- Interest in farmers markets, local food systems, or community work.

- Location: Ithaca, New York.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: Hybrid, with a mix of remote work and onsite hours at the market.
- Hours: 9 to 15 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
- Compensation: $17.00 per hour.
