About the role#
The Athletics Department hires student lifeguards to manage the daily operations of the swimming pool, locker rooms, and deck areas. You will help maintain a safe environment for all patrons while representing the college through professional conduct and service.
What you'll do#
- Supervise the pool and surrounding areas to prevent accidents.
- Enforce facility policies, rules, and regulations.
- Implement emergency action plans when necessary.
- Monitor the water and communicate safety expectations to patrons.
- Follow rotation policies at guarding stations to ensure constant supervision.
- Attend staff meetings and maintain physical and mental fitness for the role.
- Wear the provided Ithaca College uniform for all shifts.
What you'll need#
- Current American Red Cross certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard Training or Waterfront Lifeguarding certification.
- Ability to maintain all required certifications throughout your employment.
- Commitment to professional conduct and punctuality.
- Interest in fields such as Public Health, Kinesiology, or Biology is welcomed.
