About the role#
Case Management Interns assist case managers with delivering and documenting services that support clients as they transition to life in the United States. This internship involves a mix of administrative tasks and direct client engagement. You will help clients navigate their new environment while gaining experience in refugee resettlement.
What you'll do#
- Help clients reach self-sufficiency as they begin life in America.
- Map community assets and make referrals to community partners.
- Assist in scheduling appointments for clients and transport them to appointments.
- Visit clients in their homes and accompany them to appointments.
- Educate clients on U.S. healthcare and social service systems, cultural understanding, and their neighborhood.
- Assist clients in applying for social service assistance programs.
- Input client information into the database.
- Communicate client concerns with staff and coordinate service plans with your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from an academic program, specifically in Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, or Political Science.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- An interest in international and refugee issues.
- Computer literacy, preferably with PC systems.
- A driver license, vehicle, and auto insurance, with a willingness to transport clients.
- Ability to pass required background checks and complete the primary COVID-19 vaccination series.
Location & details#
- Location: Denver, Colorado.
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Minimum of 15 hours a week for at least two months.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
