    About the role#

    This program begins with the Code for Good hackathon, where you will collaborate with technologists to address real-world challenges for nonprofit organizations. Participation in this event may lead to consideration for a 2027 Software Engineer Program Summer Internship. As an intern, you will join a team to build and optimize digital applications that serve millions of users globally. You will participate in an induction covering technology strategies and products, followed by ongoing mentorship and networking opportunities.

    What you'll do#

    • Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot software solutions.
    • Write secure, high-quality code in at least one programming language while following established standards.
    • Collaborate with engineers, managers, and stakeholders to understand problems, share feedback, and deliver reliable solutions.
    • Use approved AI development tools for tasks such as code generation, refactoring, and documentation, while validating all outputs through peer review and testing.
    • Apply automation and modern tooling across the software development life cycle to improve efficiency.
    • Develop your professional skills through training, mentorship, and access to senior leaders.

    What you'll need#

    • Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or 5th-year Master’s degree with an expected graduation between December 2027 and June 2028.
    • Academic focus in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, or related fields.
    • Ability to write secure code and apply modern engineering practices.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting work and collaborating across teams.
    • Experience working with others to solve technical problems.
    • Understanding of industry-wide technology trends.

    • This internship is based in Chicago, Illinois.
    • The role is on-site.
    • This is a full-time, paid position.
    • We do not provide employment-based immigration sponsorship for this program.
    • Hiring occurs on a rolling basis.
