About the role#
Dematic is hiring a Controls Engineering Intern or Co-Op to join the Customer Service Modernizations and Upgrades group. This is a paid, full-time position based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. You will work under the direction of senior engineers to perform basic tasks and support project execution. Please note that this role requires 40-50% travel to customer sites within the United States.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design of routine systems that combine hardware and software.
- Support lead engineers with project documentation and daily tasks.
- Aid in the start-up, commissioning, and testing of material handling systems.
- Help with software PLC emulation and system testing.
- Recommend ideas to improve productivity, reduce costs, and increase customer satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively through both written and verbal channels.
- Seek guidance from team members when you encounter non-routine problems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or BA program for Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Computer Engineering.
- Basic knowledge of professional engineering principles and skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
- Experience with PLC programming is preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow standard work practices and procedures.

- Compensation: $20.00 - $29.00 per hour.
