About the role#
As a backend software engineering intern at Lyft, you will work directly with our engineering teams. You will take ownership of your projects while collaborating with others to share ideas and solve problems. You will contribute to products that reach our users and see your work go live during your internship.
What you'll do#
- Own your assigned project from start to finish.
- Collaborate with team members throughout the day to ask questions and provide updates.
- Improve existing codebases through progressive refactoring.
- Ensure system reliability by writing unit, integration, and load tests.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain quality and share technical knowledge.
- Engage in continuous integration and deployment processes.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor or master degree in Computer Science at a Canadian university.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and summer 2028.
- For master degree candidates, less than 2 years of relevant full-time work experience.
- Availability for the summer 2027 term.
- Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in English and functional competency in French.
- Experience with databases, real-time problem solving, or mobile development.
- Contributions to open source projects are a plus.
- Interest in community, sustainability, or transportation.
- Ability to thrive in a startup-style environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Montreal, Canada.
- Modality: Hybrid, with 3 days per week in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Compensation: 34 to 36 CAD per hour.
