About the role#
As a Backend Software Engineer Intern, you will work alongside engineers to build products that impact drivers and passengers. You will have autonomy over your projects while collaborating with your team throughout the day. This is a paid, full-time internship based in Toronto.
What you'll do#
- Own your specific project and provide regular updates to the team.
- Improve the codebase through progressive refactoring.
- Ensure system reliability by writing unit, integration, and load tests.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain quality and share knowledge.
- Manage continuous integration and deployment processes.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science at a Canadian university.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028.
- Less than 2 years of full-time work experience for Master's students.
- Availability for the full Summer 2027 term.
- Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals and excellent communication skills.
- Interest in community, sustainability, or transportation.
- Experience with databases, mobile development, or real-time technology problems.
- Experience contributing to open source projects is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Modality: Hybrid. You will work from the office at least 3 days per week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
- Compensation: CAD $40 - CAD $45 per hour.
- Benefits: Includes 2 days of paid time off, 3 days of sick time, mental health benefits, and subsidized commuter benefits with ride credits.
