About the role#
This 11-week internship offers hands-on experience in accounting, financial reporting, tax, controls, and audit. You will work within a global financial services organization to support key business decisions and regulatory requirements. This role is intended to help you prepare for a future career as a CPA.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to quarterly and annual reporting processes, including GAAP, Statutory, and IFRS deliverables.
- Support management reporting, financial analysis, and the preparation of external disclosures.
- Assist with tax provision and returns across the John Hancock complex.
- Partner with the Controls Center of Excellence to improve risk assessments, key controls, and governance processes.
- Participate in internal audit activities to assess the design and effectiveness of governance and risk controls.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A commitment to CPA certification post-graduation is preferred.
