About the role#
This practicum program offers nursing students a chance to gain hands-on experience within the Medical-Surgical Service Line at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Participants work alongside experienced nurses, clinical educators, and leaders to build a clinical foundation. This role is designed for students in their final semester who want to prepare for a bedside nursing career at Mercy.
What you'll do#
- Assist in individualized patient care to support patient wellness.
- Perform designated clinical procedures and nonclinical support tasks under the direction of an RN.
- Care for a diverse patient population across multiple Medical-Surgical specialties.
- Strengthen your assessment, clinical judgment, and time-management skills.
- Gain confidence by caring for patients with various medical and surgical conditions.
- Work cooperatively with the healthcare team to apply theoretical knowledge to real-life scenarios.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in the final semester of an accredited RN or LPN nursing program.
- Ability to complete your senior practicum within the Mercy Hospital St. Louis Medical-Surgical Service Line.
- Commitment to accept a bedside nursing position with Mercy upon graduation.
- Agreement to a minimum six-month employment contract following your graduation.
