About the role#
MSD is seeking a student for a co-op position within the Discovery Oncology team. This program provides an opportunity to work on research projects for up to 6 months. You will work alongside a scientific mentor to characterize new therapeutic targets and molecules. The role focuses on gaining hands-on experience in oncology drug discovery.
What you'll do#
- Design, execute, interpret, and report on in vitro experiments.
- Assist in developing, executing, and troubleshooting new cell-based assays.
- Communicate data clearly to team members and stakeholders.
- Monitor and interpret published research to guide your own work.
- Collaborate with colleagues across functional areas such as medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and genetics.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a BS or BA degree program in biological or pharmaceutical sciences.
- Enrolled in a co-op program through your college or university.
- Available to work full-time for up to 6 consecutive months starting in early to mid-2027.
- Experience with basic lab procedures including pipetting, solution preparation, and plate assays.
- Experience with basic mammalian cell culture.
- Demonstrated ability to perform accurate data analysis and experience with bioinformatics data extraction and interpretation.
- A strong interest in oncology drug discovery.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences, experience combining wet-lab and computational approaches, prior research experience, and strong attention to detail.
