About the role#
The SPARC Team at Navy Federal Credit Union is looking for a Data Storytelling & Visual Communications Intern. You will work with analysts and business leaders to turn complex data into clear, actionable stories. This role focuses on improving how insights are presented through better information design, executive messaging, and visual storytelling.
What you'll do#
- Translate complex data and business information into clear visual stories.
- Design and refine dashboards, presentations, and communication materials.
- Organize information to improve clarity, usability, and audience understanding.
- Create graphics, diagrams, templates, and other visual products.
- Assist with executive messaging and strategic storytelling.
- Participate in project meetings and collaborative problem solving.
- Conduct research on visualization, information design, and user experience.
- Present recommendations and project outcomes to leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Pursuing a degree in Communications, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, Data Visualization, Information Design, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media, User Experience Design, Business, or a related field.
- Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and simplify complex information.
- Creativity supported by critical thinking and attention to detail.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn.
- Interest in emerging technologies, including AI, and a willingness to experiment with AI-enabled tools.
- Experience with tools like PowerPoint, Power BI, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, or Canva.
- Experience developing presentations, infographics, digital content, or portfolio-based design work.
- Familiarity with data visualization, information architecture, or user experience principles.

- Locations: Vienna, VA; Pensacola, FL; or Winchester, VA.
- Term: Summer 2027 (12-week program from May to August).
- Modality: On-site.
- Status: Full-time.
