About the role#
As an Engineering Intern for Transmission Lines, you will work with engineers and project managers to design, build, and maintain high-voltage transmission infrastructure. You will gain hands-on experience with engineering methods used to support the electric grid.
What you'll do#
- Assist with overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis.
- Support drafting and mapping tasks using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or ArcGIS.
- Perform engineering calculations such as sag-tension analysis and pole loading checks under supervision.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and design packages.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop and refine engineering solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, field data collection, and technical meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
- Familiarity with design software including AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or PLS-CADD.
- A basic understanding of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC.
- Strong attention to detail and an interest in power delivery systems.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
