About the role#
This is a per diem position for nursing students to gain patient care experience. You will support clients by following their personalized care plans. This role requires availability for at least one 8-hour shift every two weeks, plus one weekend shift per month. Day and evening shifts are available.
What you'll do#
- Assist with daily routines including personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping.
- Help carry out comprehensive care plans to meet both daily and long-term patient needs.
- Document patient activities and report any changes in condition to the appropriate staff.
- Keep families and staff updated on client concerns and activities.
- Complete and submit activity sheets in a timely manner.
- Attend at least 12 hours of annual in-service education.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a nursing student with evidence of completing coursework that covers home health aide tasks within the last 24 months.
- Ability to complete a written exam and a one-day skills competency program provided by Rochester Regional Health.
- Requirement to earn active New York State HHA certification within 4 days of your hire date.
- A valid NYS driver's license is preferred.
- Ability to perform medium work, including frequent walking, standing, or squatting, and the ability to move objects weighing 20 to 50 pounds.
