About the role#
This internship placement at the Washington County Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) offers students experience in community mental health and psychiatric rehabilitation. You will work with adults diagnosed with serious mental illness in a recovery-oriented setting. The role focuses on developing clinical skills through client support, treatment planning, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
What you'll do#
- Observe and assist with client assessments and service planning.
- Help develop and facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational group activities.
- Provide supportive engagement to clients in group and individual settings.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, and care coordination.
- Document client interactions, observations, and assigned interventions per agency policy.
- Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation under direct supervision.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program.
- Ability to pass all required background screenings and health clearances.
- Strong communication skills, reliability, and a professional demeanor.
- Completion of all training related to confidentiality, safety, and organizational policy.
- Availability to complete the required internship hours for the full placement period.
