    About the role#

    This co-op position supports the Development Engineering team at Southwire. You will contribute to projects that align with company goals, working alongside engineers to gain practical experience. The program includes an assigned project that you will manage and present to leadership at the end of your term. You will have a mentor and participate in networking events and community service initiatives.

    What you'll do#

    • Research and analyze data to support engineering projects and process improvements.
    • Assist with the design, development, and testing of equipment, components, and systems.
    • Support root cause investigations, failure analysis, and quality improvement initiatives through data collection.
    • Create and update engineering documentation, standard operating procedures, and process flow diagrams.
    • Collaborate on brainstorming new product ideas and enhancements.
    • Participate in laboratory testing and process trials under the guidance of engineers.
    • Use CAD software to create or revise drawings, layouts, and models.
    • Perform time studies and capacity analyses to support production optimization.
    • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate project results.
    • Engage with cross-functional teams including maintenance, production, quality, and safety.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
    • Minimum 2.5 GPA.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Minitab, and CAD software such as Solidworks, Inventor, or Autocad.
    • Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
    • Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
    • Ability to commit to a minimum of 3 rotations.
    • Must remain enrolled in school during semesters to be eligible.

    • Location: Carrollton, GA.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Schedule: 40-hour work weeks during rotations.
    • Compensation: Paid position.
