About the role#
As a Shop Technician Intern at Summit Agricultural Group, you will gain hands-on experience in a large-scale farming operation. You will focus on preventative maintenance and service needs at our headquarters in Alden, Iowa.
What you'll do#
- Perform maintenance and repairs on company equipment, including on-road passenger vehicles, tractors, and field cultivators.
- Handle specific service tasks such as oil changes, tire repairs, and equipment detailing.
- Troubleshoot and fix various mechanical issues.
- Carry out metal fabrication duties, with a preference for welding experience.
- Operate equipment including tractors, grain carts, skid loaders, and forklifts.
- Assist with minor construction and special projects.
- Cross-train in other operational departments.
- Deliver a final presentation to the management team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Mechanical Engineering, Agriculture, or Industrial Engineering programs.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as a motivated self-starter.
