About the role#
As a Medical Assistant Extern at the Enfield IMFM location, you will gain hands-on experience by shadowing a preceptor in both administrative and clinical settings. This part-time, paid externship offers the opportunity to observe and participate in daily patient care operations within a multispecialty health care environment.
What you'll do#
- Shadow your preceptor during daily administrative and clinical tasks.
- Assist with patient flow, including greeting and escorting patients through the facility.
- Perform clerical duties such as answering phones and burning CDs.
- Restock supplies and handle medical equipment.
- Take vital signs, height, and weight measurements.
- Perform EKGs and point of care testing.
- Observe and perform urinalysis, urine culture, and pregnancy testing.
- Practice patient and staff experience initiatives.
- Learn quality control documentation.
