About the role#
The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury offers a 10-week paid internship for students to participate in audit operations. You will work on an active audit, attend training, and engage in professional development. This program runs from June 1 to August 7, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Examine and review records, reports, financial statements, and management practices.
- Evaluate how fairly financial statements are presented.
- Assess the adequacy of internal controls.
- Review the efficiency and effectiveness of operations and systems.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a rising junior, senior, or graduate student in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Completion of at least 12 hours of Accounting coursework.
- Ability to think critically and adapt to new tasks.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with teams and auditees.
Location & details#
- Location: Cookeville, Tennessee.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time.
- Travel: Limited travel to counties within the Mideast Tennessee region may be required for audit assignments. Some overnight stays are expected for intern events.
