About the role#
The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury offers a 10-week paid internship for students interested in investigative operations. This program runs from June 1 to August 6, 2027. You will gain hands-on experience by working directly with the Investigations team, participating in professional development activities, and engaging with office leadership. The program includes cohort check-ins, networking opportunities, and a final presentation to showcase your work.
What you'll do#
- Assist with investigations regarding fraud, waste, and abuse.
- Interview witnesses and gather information.
- Examine records, reports, and financial statements.
- Evaluate internal controls and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and grant agreements.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development cohort activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student.
- Rising junior or senior status.
- Successful completion of at least 6 hours of accounting coursework.
- Ability to think critically and work effectively within a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with coworkers and others.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Nashville, Tennessee.
- The role is full-time and on-site.
- Interns are paid $24 per hour.
- Limited in-state travel may be required, for which you will be reimbursed.
- A criminal background check is required for this position.
