About the role#
The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury offers a 10-week paid internship for students interested in governmental auditing. This program provides hands-on experience in audit operations and professional development. You will work on an audit team to evaluate state government entities that receive public funds. The program runs from June 1 to August 6, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Participate in audits of state government entities.
- Evaluate management mission and operational practices through interviews and record reviews.
- Assess the design, implementation, and effectiveness of internal controls.
- Research, write, and develop communication materials.
- Collaborate with the Communications Team and engage with Office leaders and staff.
What you'll need#
- Status as a rising junior, senior, or graduate student in an accounting program.
- Completion of at least 6 credit hours of accounting coursework.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, organizational, and writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Nashville, Tennessee.
- The position is on-site and full-time.
- Limited travel to audit sites within Tennessee may be required.
