About the role#
The Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator connects academic training to professional practice. You will manage externship sites and ensure students receive hands-on experience in healthcare settings. This role involves overseeing program compliance and supporting student transitions into the workforce.
What you'll do#
- Secure and manage a network of externship sites for Medical Assistant students.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor student performance and address concerns.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with Career Services and Placement teams to support student employment goals.
- Provide guidance to students on attendance, professionalism, and performance.
- Conduct orientations and assist with resume writing and interview preparation.
- Maintain accurate documentation such as timecards, evaluations, and affiliation agreements.
- Track student progress and conduct exit interviews.
- Promote the externship program through networking in the medical community.
What you'll need#
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in the medical field.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential.
- Phlebotomy Certification and Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certification.
- CPR certification is preferred.
- Interest in mentoring students and supporting their professional development.
