About the role#
As an Electrical Engineer/Technologist Co-op Student at Mosaic Potash Esterhazy, you will support critical power and infrastructure systems. This role provides exposure to day-to-day operations and large-scale capital projects at our underground potash mine sites. You will work alongside professionals to build technical expertise while contributing to system reliability, safety, and long-term electrical planning.
What you'll do#
- Perform electrical drawing redlines and field audits for power, communication, network, and control systems to ensure documentation accuracy.
- Assist with and lead switching sequences and lockout procedures during maintenance shutdowns, outages, and major electrical preventative maintenance activities.
- Support major electrical projects, including hoist and MCC upgrades, underground grid expansions, substation replacements, and power demand and protection studies.
- Communicate with various levels of personnel, including management, plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors.
- Participate in department meetings and specific project assignments.
What you'll need#
- You must be entering your third year or above by May 2027 in a bachelor's program for Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
- 1-2 years of experience volunteering or working with student and school organizations.
- Basic computer skills.
- Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are required to travel between sites.
- You must be able to work in an industrial, chemical, and mining environment, which may include occasional outdoor work with exposure to varying temperatures.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 lbs, climb stairs, work at heights, wear a respirator, and work 12-hour shifts occasionally.
Location & details#
- Location: Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, Canada.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 10, 2027 to December 18, 2027).
- Schedule: Full-time, 36-40 hours per week, on a 9/80 schedule.
- This is an on-site, paid position.
