    About the role#

    The Washington Post is seeking college juniors, seniors, and graduate students for the 2027 summer internship program. This role places you within the newsroom to work alongside award-winning journalists on a variety of stories. You will be treated as a staff member throughout the program, contributing to both quick-turn coverage and larger projects.

    What you'll do#

    • Acquire, clean, and analyze data to support news reporting.
    • Write stories and propose ideas for data visualization and presentation.
    • Collaborate with reporters and editors to present your findings.
    • Work across the newsroom on a wide range of editorial content.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a college junior, senior, or graduate student in Journalism, Computer Science, Data Science, Communications, or Media Studies.
    • Proficiency in R or Python.
    • A strong commitment to accuracy, clarity, and journalistic rigor.
    • A portfolio or clips that demonstrate your data-driven work.

    Location & details#

    • This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship based at our headquarters in Washington, D.C.
    • The program takes place during the summer of 2027.
    • Sponsorship is not available for this position.
