About the role#
The Customer Service Intern will support front office and patient service teams at Watts Healthcare Center. You will help create a welcoming environment for patients and visitors while learning how administrative operations support healthcare delivery. This internship provides hands-on experience in a professional healthcare setting and is designed to connect your school studies to real-world career paths.
What you'll do#
- Welcome patients, visitors, and community members.
- Direct visitors to the correct departments and service areas.
- Provide general information about clinic services and programs.
- Assist staff with organizing front desk materials and preparing patient information packets.
- Support daily office operations, including filing, scanning, copying, and data entry.
- Observe front office workflows and patient service processes.
- Participate in community outreach efforts and patient satisfaction initiatives.
- Learn about patient privacy, confidentiality, and professional workplace conduct.
- Engage in career readiness activities and explore educational pathways in healthcare administration.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Compton Unified School District, preferably as a Junior or Senior.
- Interest in healthcare, science, biotechnology, or public health.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work well with staff and peers.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a CTE EMR pathway.
- Required documentation prior to start: CPR certification, current TB clearance, and proof of immunizations including MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap, COVID-19, and seasonal influenza.
