About the role#
The Membership Services Intern position offers high school students a hands-on introduction to healthcare administration and community health. Based at the Watts Healthcare Center, you will assist with non-clinical administrative tasks, patient engagement, and community outreach. This internship is designed to connect your school experience to professional career paths in public health and healthcare services.
What you'll do#
- Welcome patients and visitors while directing them to the correct departments.
- Organize enrollment materials and prepare informational packets for patients.
- Assist with administrative projects including filing, scanning, and data entry.
- Support staff with community outreach activities and the preparation of educational resources.
- Observe patient registration and healthcare access processes to learn how health systems function.
- Maintain organized records and resource inventories for the department.
- Participate in career readiness activities and learn about professional standards, including patient privacy and confidentiality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Compton Unified School District, preferably as a Junior or Senior.
- An interest in healthcare, biotechnology, science, or public health careers.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with a professional, dependable attitude.
- Ability to work well with staff and peers.
- Preference is given to students in or entering a CTE pathway.
- Before starting, you must provide proof of: CPR Certification, current TB clearance, immune titers (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B), and vaccinations for Tdap, COVID-19, and seasonal influenza.

- This is a paid, full-time summer 2027 internship.
- The role is based on-site in Los Angeles, California.
- The internship duration is approximately 108 hours, with a schedule determined by department needs.
