About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Portland, Oregon. You will work on-site to assist with safety and loss control activities. This role provides an opportunity to gain experience in construction management and learn about safety programs in the construction industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the Building L.I.F.E. program and general project safety.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box meetings.
- Facilitate training at orientations and safety meetings.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
- Administer the drug screening program.
- Conduct jobsite and work area inspections.
- Maintain safety records, including OSHA 300 logs and MSDS documentation.
- Document meetings and assist with preconstruction research.
- Promote safe work practices and conditions on-site.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least one year of completed college education.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- A proactive, curious approach to learning and professional accountability.
- Ability to take direction and follow tasks through to completion.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime as needed.
