About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Safety Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This is a full-time, paid position based in Indianapolis, Indiana. You will work on-site to assist with loss control and safety programs under the direction of a supervisor.
What you'll do#
- Help implement the Building L.I.F.E. and project safety programs.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box meetings.
- Facilitate training during safety meetings and worker orientations.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance.
- Promote safe work practices that meet company, Federal, State, and Local regulations.
- Administer the drug screening program.
- Conduct research and support preconstruction meetings.
- Perform jobsite inspections and develop inspection summaries.
- Maintain safety records, including training logs, incident reports, and chemical inventories.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited degree program for Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
- At least 1 year of completed college education.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Interest in a career in construction management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general data entry.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime when required.
- Access to reliable transportation.
