About the role#
Turner Construction Company is hiring a Safety Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Huntsville, Alabama. You will work directly with our teams to support safety and loss control efforts on construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the implementation of the Building L.I.F.E. and project safety programs.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices.
- Coordinate safety duties for committees, preplanning meetings, and tool box talks.
- Facilitate training sessions and worker orientations.
- Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Administer the drug screening program.
- Conduct jobsite inspections and document findings.
- Maintain safety records, including incident investigations, training logs, and chemical inventories.
- Conduct research and provide support for preconstruction meetings.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Occupational Safety & Health.
- Completion of at least 1 year of college education.
- Basic knowledge of safety and environmental principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general data entry.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms.
- A proactive mindset and a desire to learn about construction management.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime as needed.
- Access to reliable transportation.

- This role involves working at construction sites where you may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, various weather conditions, and loud noise. You must be physically able to navigate construction environments, including climbing stairs and ladders.
