About the role#
The University of South Florida Institute of Applied Engineering (IAE) is hiring a Graphics Design intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports SOFWERX, a venue focused on collaboration and innovation for USSOCOM. You will work on-site in Tampa, Florida, as both a USF IAE temporary employee and a SOFWERX student intern.
What you'll do#
- Create graphics to support SOFWERX events, experiments, and outreach activities.
- Design digital and print assets for internal and external communication channels, including social media, reports, and presentations.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop visual concepts.
- Prepare graphics for various formats and platforms while ensuring visual consistency.
- Support basic motion graphics and visual elements as needed.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and design reviews to iterate on creative work.
- Conduct weekly market research and submit entries regarding new capabilities and technologies for warfighter solutions.
What you'll need#
- U.S. citizenship is required due to access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Active enrollment as a Junior or Senior in an undergraduate program at an accredited local university.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Demonstrated experience in graphic design, visual communication, or digital media.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- An understanding of layout, typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
- Strong storytelling, communication, and organizational skills.

- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $17.00 per hour.
- Schedule: 15 to 20 hours per week during the Fall semester.
