About the role#
The Art@Work Graduate Coordinator supports the administration of a program that places art by local artists into shared spaces across the University of Virginia. This role involves working with a core team to manage the acquisition, storage, and installation of artwork within academic departments. The position is scheduled for 6-8 hours per week during the 2026-2027 academic year.
What you'll do#
- Support the Art@Work Committee by scheduling meetings, taking notes, and maintaining records.
- Manage the logistics of acquiring, storing, lending, and moving art pieces.
- Oversee the installation of art in campus locations.
- Maintain the lending library by drafting loan agreements and coordinating deliveries.
- Handle outreach tasks including email management, website updates, press releases, and social media content.
- Monitor program budget and spending to support finance and procurement operations.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment as a graduate student in a masters or Ph.D. program at the University of Virginia.
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on scheduling and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication skills, including experience with written content and social media.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- A valid driver's license or the willingness to obtain one upon hire.
- Academic background in Art, Communications, or History.

- This position is based in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- The work modality is hybrid, combining virtual administrative tasks with in-person art handling and installation.
