About the role#
This position provides technical research support for the development and evaluation of efficient multimodal AI methods. You will work on research regarding vision-language models and edge artificial intelligence, specifically focusing on how these models understand transportation and environmental conditions. The role involves assisting with the deployment of models under resource-constrained computing conditions.
What you'll do#
- Prepare, organize, and preprocess image, video, text, and related research datasets.
- Conduct computational experiments involving model inference, fine-tuning, compression, quantization, and other deployment methods.
- Evaluate model performance using quantitative metrics and experimental protocols.
- Assist with the deployment and testing of models on edge or resource-constrained computing platforms.
- Maintain organized experimental records and document research methods and results.
- Meet regularly with your faculty supervisor to discuss progress and research tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in engineering, computer science, data science, mathematics, or a related field.
- Programming experience in Python or a comparable language.
- Basic knowledge of machine learning, data analysis, or computational methods.
- The ability to work independently and learn new computational tools.
