About the role#
The Field Welding Intern supports welding operations on active construction projects. You will work alongside experienced welders to install structural components while gaining hands-on experience in the field. This position requires travel to various job sites and a commitment to maintaining safety standards in an outdoor environment.
What you'll do#
- Travel to project sites to support field welding operations.
- Assist with fitting, aligning, and welding structural components.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications.
- Perform basic welding and tack welding under supervision.
- Use measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure proper fit-up.
- Help with equipment setup, material staging, and project preparation.
- Operate hand and power tools for welding and steel erection.
- Support installation and repair activities in active construction environments.
- Follow site-specific safety requirements and participate in safety meetings.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a welding-related technical program.
- Experience with Stick Welding (SMAW).
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and construction documents.
- Ability to pass a 3G and 4G welding test upon hire.
- Ability to complete fall protection training and work at heights.
- Willingness to travel to and work from various construction project sites.
- Reliable transportation for commuting to work locations.
- A strong commitment to safety and established procedures.
- Eagerness to develop field welding skills.
